Dear MendMeShop,

I have begun to use the Ultrasound device and have had great results so far. I have had five orthopedic surguries in the past 18 months and use the device on several areas. I had two torn ligaments and two torn tendons in my left left ankle. I went through physical therapy for over two months but did not find anyway to reduce the swelling. After the first use of the device on Friday February 5th, I found the swelling to be greatly reduced. Now I can't use the device three times a day on all the areas that need attention, but once a day is working just fine. My wife has begun to use the device also and has noticed a difference with her tennis elbow. We couldn't be happier at this point.

More Tendon Facts:

Ultrasound can speed tendonitis recovery significantly.

A fully ruptured Tendon REQUIRES surgery. It will not heal on its own.

Except for a fully ruptured tendon, Tendonitis can almost always be cured without surgery.

Left untreated, tendonitis can be extremely debilitating and lead to life long complications.

Continually using your Tendon while it is injured will lead to a worse injury.

To Heal as fast as possible:

Rest
Use a Cold Compression Wrap
Get Therapeutic Ultrasound Treatment
Avoid Pain Killers

Dear MendMeShop,

Thanks for the follow up email from my ultrasound purchase. It is a miracle, and a quick one at that. I am an Ironman and suffered from IT Band Syndrome beginning in June. The pain was excruciating. Not only could I no longer run or bike, but I also suffered from merely walking. I've been to every doctor, tried every therapy and non-pharmaceutical treatment available. It has been 4 months since my last run. After using the ultrasound machine for a week, I ran yesterday for 20 minutes as a trial--the pain was minimal. As I continue with my therapy my only regret is that I did not make this purchase 4 months ago when I first came upon your website. Thank you so much! I can't wait to get back out on the road and now I know that day is right around the corner.

Dear MendMeShop,

I am using the ultrasound mostly 3 times a day. I occasionally can only get in 2 times a day due to the traveling at present. I think I have had good results, it has helped a constant pain go away, unfortunately I continue to have occassions where I move a certain way and my shoulder is in pain. This causes a set back. At present these pain times are less severe and I'm having fewer of these occurances. I rest my arm as much as possible. I bought an AC adapter for use in the car while on the road. All the walking I've done over the past 6 days has caused a knot to reappear in the arch of my foot from a previous injury to a tendon sheath. I've used the ultrasound on it and it helps it go down and has greatly eased the pain, since I'm still needing to walk. The ultrasound has been a blessing for me and I'm sure will continue to do so.

Dear MendMeShop,

I am so pleased that I have finally found something for the bursitis of my hip, the pain was so bad. I had so many cortisone shots and wanted something else. I found your ad on the internet and ordered the [MendMeShop Ultrasound Device]. I took the treatments as the instructions said. I can not believe I am pain free, I have been suffering with this for over a year. I would say that if you are suffering with hip pain try this, it works. I still can't believe it works! My friends think it is a gimmick but I talked to my Doctor and he said that studies show ultrasound is very beneficial for hip bursitis

Adductor Tendinopathy

The hip adductor muscles help bring your legs together and rotate your hip inwards. The short adductors include the pectineus, adductor brevis, and adductor longus, and the long adductors include the adductor magnus and gracilis. These start at your pubic bone where the crease of your inner thigh meets your body and move down your thigh bone to the inside of your knee. At the end of these muscles are tendons, which are tough, fibrous tissues that connect muscles to bones.

Adductor muscles in the hip

Groin injuries comprise 2 - 5% of all sports injuries; adductor tendinitis and tendinopathy are among the most common causes of groin pain in athletes. The adductor longus is responsible for 62% of groin injuries, and tends to be the most prone to injury, followed by the gracilis muscle. This injury is problematic among athletes especially runners and professional dancers, as both activites stress the adductor tendon quite heavily.

The initial damage can range from overstretching or a slightly pulled muscle (grade 1 strain) to partial tearing (grade 2 strain), to complete rupturing of your adductor muscle or tendon fibers (grade 3 strain). If you do not allow your tissues to heal properly, your previous adductor injuries will build upon each other. The inability of your tendon to repair itself encourages microtears to accumulate faster than they can heal, increasing the breakdown of your tissue and reinforcing your pain and disability. The majority of adductor strains are grade 1 or 2 strains that involve partial tears, where your adductor tendon and muscle meet.

Causes and Diagnosing

Adductor Tendonitis

The most common cause of tendon inflammation is overuse of your adductors. It results from repetitive stress placed on your adductor muscles and tendons during active sports (especially when running, kicking, twisting, or side-stepping), as a result of a sudden fall or direct hit, and/or overexerting yourself in everyday activities that involve twisting or lifting heavy objects while bending or running on an unstable surface (like grass or mud).

Alignment issues and leg length discrepancies, which affect the way you walk, or incorrect sport-specific motions, as well as strength differences in your muscles, lack of exercise and obesity, age-related weaknesses and/or degeneration, and genetics.

Your doctor will perform a medical history and physical examination, and may use some diagnostic tests (including X-Rays, MRIs, bone scans, CT scans, and diagnostic ultrasound) to determine your situation.

Prevention

Stretching will help strengthen your muscles

Avoid doing too much too soon - decrease, modify and/or avoid any activities that cause pain and irritation.

Stabilize your groin, pelvis and hip area, build your core strength with light weights, exercise bands and balls, core balance training, and exercises to develop strength, speed and agility, such as jumping or bounding. Yoga, tai chi, or a daily stretching routine will also help keep your muscles and joints supple, and will increase your range of motion. Combine these with regular low-impact exercise and healthy diet.

Always warm up and cool down your muscles, learn the proper form and techniques to prevent injuries, and utilize any available mobility supports (braces, taping, orthotics, canes) to help alleviate undue stress and improve your function.

Treatment

When treating adductor tendinitis rest the area, apply cold compression for 10-20 minutes at a time for at least 3 times a day. Do this to the injured area for the first day up to 3 days. Blood Flow Stimulation Therapy may be used after the acute swelling is improved. Cold Compression Therapy will reduce initial inflammation and swelling and Blood Flow Stimulation Therapy increases blood flow through the area to speed the healing process. This can be further helped by the use of ultrasound applications over the affected area, as it reduces swelling quickly and increases blood flow to the area, helping the tendon heal more quickly.

The trick to any tendon injury is getting it to heal with minimal scar tissue formation and with as much realignment of tendon fibers as possible - something both Blood Flow Stimulation Therapy and therapeutic ultrasound are great at! Even with optimum healing there is always less elasticity in a previously injured tendon. The trick is to make sure you heal this the best you can, that way your chance of reinjury down the road is much lower than average.

Tendon Injury Facts:

When the tendon gets inflamed it is known as tendonitis, and when the tendons are chronically overused, it may lead to microscopic tears in the collagen matrix and causes a gradual weakening of the tissues.

Achilles tendonitis is a common injury among runners, as the Achilles tendon is responsible for helping you lift off the ground with each stride.

As computers become ever more important elements of the work place and everyday life, incidents of wrist tendonitis are on the rise.

Oral Medications can mask the pain but do not aid in the healing of tendonitis. Anti-inflammatories and pain killers can cause tendonitis to worsen.

Ice and Compression are the easiest and most effective treatments for tendonitis.
