Dear MendMeShop,

I wanted to send this note to let potential users of the ultrasound device that it has worked really well for me. With achillis injuries on both heels, I have had to use it a lot. My pain level before was a 9 out of 10 and I could barely walk. After using the device as suggested by the company, my pain level is down to a 2. Thanks so much.

More Tendon Facts:

Ultrasound can speed tendonitis recovery significantly.

A fully ruptured Tendon REQUIRES surgery. It will not heal on its own.

Except for a fully ruptured tendon, Tendonitis can almost always be cured without surgery.

Left untreated, tendonitis can be extremely debilitating and lead to life long complications.

Continually using your Tendon while it is injured will lead to a worse injury.

Dear MendMeShop,

Last march I partially tore my rotator cuff in a hockey game. After about 2 months of treatment from my chiropractor which basically consisted of him stretching and cracking my shoulder quite painfully, I realized that it wasn’t getting any better and I was worried that my career as a hockey player was over. Luckily I came across your website and thought I would ive it a try. After my first 10 minute treatment, the everyday pain that I had been struggling with was almost completely gone. I’ve been using it for about a month now and my shoulder is totally healed. I can’t believe it! In my mind your product is worth its weight in gold. I recommend it to anyone and I will be sure to mention it to my teammates. Thank you for a truly fantastic product.

Dear MendMeShop,

I purchased this device along with the Inferno wrap and Freezie wrap to treat a chronic Achilles tendonosis (MICROSCOPIC TEARS OF THE TENDON AT THE INSERTION). During the later part of 2008 I was experiencing a lot of tight muscle and tendons and usually working out (running) tired and not properly warmed up and limber. I started the new year with good intention and determined to work on stretching that included following a home yoga program. I am familiar with yoga but admit that I was too aggressive with the stretching that comes from the 'downward dog' position. I believe this aggravated an already existing condition in the Achilles insertion area, this combined with the stress of a late January 5KM road race caused enough pain in the Achilles tendon to force me to discontinue running. I sought medical attention from my family physician who referred me to physiotherapy. Through the early stage of therapy I continued to do regular bike workouts. Unfortunately the pain increased to the point that I had to stop both running and cycling. I attended physiotherapy for just over two months going once a week receiving massage to the injured area, ultrasound, cortisone by patch and ice. I was religious in following the gentle stretching and strengthening routine at home between physio visits. After these two months with little improvement they released me with the instruction to continue with the stretching, strength exercises and ice. I was still in pain and could not run or cycle without causing further damage, walking was painful. I search for other solutions and found the information on the MendMeShop web site. Although skeptical, I purchased the full package out of desperation, received the product, read all the literature for use and started into a daily routine using the ultrasound device one a day followed by use of the Freezie pack. Within 7 days I started to experience a reduction in the constant pain. Within 9 days I was walking without a constant reminder of the injury. I tried doing a ride and although the short 13 mile ride was enjoyable I started to feel the injury flair up again. The injury is not completely healed but the progress I am experiencing gives me hope that with a continued discipline of home treatment using the products, gentle stretching and the use of wearing a brace on my foot while sleeping to prevent the tendon from retracting, will in time bring about the full healthy healing of the injured area. I have found that you really have to be in tune with what you are feeling during the gentle stretching and often back off the stretch so as not to cause repetitive injury to the already weakened area of the Achilles insertion.

Dear MendMeShop,

Dear Tanya, I would like to thank Mendmeshop for being such a blessing. I have always been a runner all my life and last November 2010 it finally caught up to me. I was in severe pain with my foot and I didn't understand why after further investigation I realized that I had tendonitis of my foot. I was devastated because the pain was almost unbearable at times. I could barely sit down or stand up for periods of time without being in excruxiating pain. I never thought that I would be able to work out again, until finally, I discovered your shop. Needless to say that after using the unltrasound, along with the inferno wrap, and Night tread foot splint I am running again!!!! Every now and then I experince some discomfort with my foot after work out or whatever but that s understandable you guys are truly, truly, truly, a blessing thank you all and God Bless because I got my life back!

Bicep Tendonitis and Bicep Strain

Bicep Tendonitis, Bicep Strain

Bicep tendonitis is a term for painful inflammation of the tendon connecting the bicep muscle to the shoulder. Symptoms include an extremely piercing pain, a shooting or burning pain at the front of the shoulder, especially when you move your arm forward over shoulder height, or during an activity like throwing something. The bicep muscle is in the front part of the upper arm, the bicep tendons connect this muscle to the elbow and at two points on the shoulder. The degree of injury ranges from an irritated tendon to a tear or even a complete rupture of the tendon. Bicep tendonitis is not as common as achilles or supraspinatus, though it is prevalent among weightlifting sports.

Bicep Tendonitis should not be left untreated as it can degenerate and become more difficult to treat. When treating the bicep tendon(s), rest the area (meaning do NOT workout this area other than stretching), apply cold compression for 10-20 minutes at a time for at least 3 times a day. Do this to the injured area for the first day to 3 days. Blood Flow Stimulation Therapy may be used after the acute swelling is improved and rest prevents further muscle injury. This can be further helped by the use of therapeutic ultrasound applications over the affected area, as it reduces swelling quickly, minimizes scar tissue build up and increases blood flow to the area.

Often when a tendon injury occurs, the injured area is rested a bit, a pain killer is taken and we continue on with our normal activities. If the strain was minor, the body may be able to heal the muscle fibers normally. Unfortunately, this is not the usual result because the injured muscle is being used instead of rested. Because of the stress on the tendon, the body heals the injured fibers by binding them together with fibrotic adhesions or scar tissue. This is done in an attempt to prevent further damage to the injured area. It is a normal protective response of the body.

The trick to any tendon injury is getting it to heal with minimal scar tissue formation and with as much realignment of tendon fibres as possible - something Blood Flow Stimulation Therapy and ultrasound are great at! Even with optimum healing there is always less elasticity in a previously injured tendon. The trick is to make sure you heal this the best you can, that way your chance of reinjury down the road is much lower than average - which is well over 50%.

Tendon Injury Facts:

When the tendon gets inflamed it is known as tendonitis, and when the tendons are chronically overused, it may lead to microscopic tears in the collagen matrix and causes a gradual weakening of the tissues.

Achilles tendonitis is a common injury among runners, as the Achilles tendon is responsible for helping you lift off the ground with each stride.

As computers become ever more important elements of the work place and everyday life, incidents of wrist tendonitis are on the rise.

Oral Medications can mask the pain but do not aid in the healing of tendonitis. Anti-inflammatories and pain killers can cause tendonitis to worsen.

Ice and Compression are the easiest and most effective treatments for tendonitis.

Dear MendMeShop,

Two years ago, I was diagnosed with Achilles Tendonitis and Plantar Fasciitis, I have no idea as to how I became injured, but it was there and it became so difficult to walk at times, especially after getting up from a resting position that I had to seriously address it. I went to a podiatrist and after trying several treatments such as physical therapy, prescription orhtotics and acupuncture there was no improvement, so the subject of surgery was suggested by the podiatrist. I was totally opposed to surgery. I heard about ultrasound therapy by a friend that told me it was used at times for sports injury. I found the MENDMESHOP on line, I spoke to them several times and the friendly staff gave me a great deal of information on the use of the ultrasound machine. I purchased the ultrasound machine and after three weeks of use, I noticed a significant improvement in my condition, not only did I use the machine on the Achilles and Plantar tendons, but also my wife used it on a Rotator Cuff tear with the same results. I am extremely satisfied with the therapeutic results from the machine and highly recommend the device.

Dear MendMeShop,

I am 56 years old and purchased your ultrasound equipment to repair minor joint deterioration in my shoulders, hips, knees, and ankles. I was experiencing minor tenderness and crackling sounds in some of my joints. After one 10-15 minute treatment on each of my joints, the tenderness the next day had mostly disappeared and the crackling sounds in my knees were reduced. Greater flexibility in my ankles was the most amazing. I offered to help my friends and family with treatments on their trouble areas. My 32 year old niece had developed stabbing pains in the arch of one foot (plantar fasciitis?) causing her to hop on the other foot first thing in the morning. With one treatment, she woke up the next morning and could walk instead of hop/limp to the bathroom. She came back right away for a second treatment and to have her husband work on his knee. They both got further relief. Now she and her husband are ready to order their own ultrasound equipment. I also assisted my 94 year old mother that had a frozen shoulder. After two treatments, she gained a about six inches in her range of motion and she became pain free in the resting position. That is very fast progress for all of us. Over the last 3 weeks, more of my friends got relief from the ultrasound equipment for tender Achilles heals, elbows, wrists and neck stiffness. Most comment about how pleasing the therapeutic gel is that has lavender, eucalyptus, and other ingredients. This has been a very inexpensive way to self treat and cut down on chiropractor visits that did not really solve the problem.

Specialized Rotator Cuff Customer Service Advisor can help you with product selection.

Dear MendMeShop,

I am a 44 year-old woman in good health. I eat a fresh diet and take high-quality supplements, including MSM, glucosamine, Zyflamend, and all the usual joint-recomended supplements. I injured both knees two years ago while kneeling to tile my family room and entry. Subsequently, a simple twisting squat ripped my left meniscus with a huge bucket tear that required surgery to trim so it wouldn't keep catching and re-tearing. I am not one to undergo surgery unless it is unavoidable, and even after a "simple" scope operation, it took me a full year to get full extension back on that knee, and I doubt I will ever be able to squat again. I run a cleaning business. A couple of months ago an employee had forgotten to return equipment to my van, and I had to mop some hardwood flooring for a client on my hands and knees. That simple ten-minute job put me back out of commission. The kneeling pre-injured the area, and when I stepped back onto my good leg two days later, I felt that familiar burn of a fresh meniscus tear. I was heartsick, dreading another surgery and the attendant expense, pain, and down time. I know from my previous experience that cartilage is hard to heal because of the poor blood supply, especially to the center. I knew it was just a matter of time before I tore it further. (My dad had multiple knee scopes before finally getting a replacement, but I was not going down that path if I could help it!) I got online and researched alternatives that would get me back on my feet. Delighted to discover Mend Me Shop and their professional athletic healing devices, I ordered the Inferno Wrap, Ice Wrap, and Ultrasound immediately. $400 would be a pittance relative to the $13,000 it costs to repair a torn meniscus (and that doesn't include rehab and lost income). During the week it took the package to arrive, I stayed off my feet as much as possible and iced the injured knee several times a day. My big hope was simply to avoid tearing the cartilage further before the stuff came. (With my surgery knee, I had re-torn it repeatedly before surgery.) The minute that I put that Inferno wrap around my bad knee, I was in love! The penetrating warmth felt amazing. I kept it by my desk and strapped it on when I would sit and work at the computer. The ultrasound I believed in because of the help it gave me in therapy for a shoulder injury, and this US device worked just like the one used on me in therapy. Every time I used it before bed, I awoke feeling so good I had to remind myself I had an injury and to be careful. And I kept icing the knee. Within two weeks I was walking evenly on both legs, if gingerly lest I inadvertently twist or bounce. But I was definitely healing. I didn't miss any work after the first week, though I moved more slowly than usual and occasionally felt that piercing reminder of the tear. I had to lie down and elevate my knee every two hours to get through the day, but it was slowly healing. Four weeks later I was feeling so good, and the day was so sunny, that I went skipping off the front porch and was reminded I have a torn meniscus! And so it goes to this day, some six weeks later: the injury is there, but it is gradually improving. The more I use the therapy devices, the faster it improves. The more I get lazy and feel perfect and neglect them, the more I slow down. But I work a full schedule without breaks and only occasionally am reminded of the injury. By God's grace and with many thanks to Mend Me Shop, I have avoided surgery! I have to say, too, how much the whole family has made use of the ultrasound unit. I have used it on my bad shoulder, wrists, my daughter's scapula -- whatever needs healing. It brings instant relief that lasts a good 24 hours. I love having in-home access to this equipment. It payed for itself in only three or four uses and will serve us well for years to come with our active lifestyles. A single ten-minute session with the physical therapist costs $180 ($50 out of pocket) -- and that is if she decides to treat that way and the doctor continues to prescribe treatment! I so prefer to take charge of my own health. Gratefully yours, Debbie Morgan
